Then when I used my hemmer foot, the stitching prevented the cut edge from stretching. But with the fishing line, I guess you want it to "grow," right? So you could skip that step. I wouldn't tell you why as it has nothing to do with dress making and you would probably laugh but I have about 50 metres of sewing to do and using a machine would speed things up a bit.
